Role Title: Data Solutions Lead-Pre-Sales

Summary of the role:
The Data Solutions Lead at EXL plays a pivotal, client-facing role within our Data Management practice. This role is designed for a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution . You will work closely with sales teams, solution architects, and delivery leads to shape compelling, data-driven solutions that address complex client challenges - particularly in response to RFPs/RFIs/RFSs and proactive proposals.
This is not a hands-on engineering role, but it requires a solid understanding of modern data platforms , cloud architectures , and the components that make up enterprise data solutions . You will be responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end proposal process , ensuring alignment across technical, commercial, and delivery functions.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
- Lead the response to RFPs/RFIs/RFSs by translating client requirements into solution blueprints and proposal narratives.
- Collaborate with sales, architects, pricing teams, and delivery SMEs to shape and articulate solutions that are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with client expectations.
- Conduct discovery workshops and client interviews to extract and clarify "the ask," ensuring internal teams have a shared understanding of the problem statement.
- Coordinate across global teams to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality proposals and presentations.
- Develop and maintain reusable solution components, proposal templates, and value propositions tailored to data management and cloud transformation.
- Support pre-sales engagements by presenting solution concepts to clients and participating in orals and Q&A sessions.
- Track and manage proposal timelines, risks, and dependencies, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and deliverables are met.
- Stay current with industry trends in data platforms, cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP), and data governance to inform solution design.
Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:
- Education: Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
- Proven experience in a pre-sales, solutioning, or consulting role within data management, analytics, or cloud transformation.
- Strong understanding of data platforms, data integration, data governance, and cloud-native architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate complex proposal efforts across multiple stakeholders and geographies.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills-able to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions at the C-suite level.
- Familiarity with pricing models, commercial constructs, and delivery frameworks for managed services and project-based engagements.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:
- Experience in the insurance, financial services, or healthcare sectors.
- Exposure to GCP, Azure, or AWS-based data solutions.
- Prior experience with proposal automation tools or knowledge management platforms.
- Understanding of FinOps, GenAI, or data observability concepts is a plus.
