What You'll Do

Avalara is seeking a Director of Mid-Market Sales to lead and coach a team of mid-market New Business Sales Executives. Your responsibility will be to build a high-performing team focused on acquiring new mid-market customers in the UK. The ideal candidate will have experience leading successful mid-market sales teams in high-growth SaaS environments, particularly with solutions integrating with ERPs such as Oracle.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead a team of mid-market Sales Executives targeting new logo acquisition in the UK.
  2. Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with Avalara’s revenue goals.
  3. Coach the team to foster customer relationships, manage complex sales cycles, and close high-value deals.
  4. Collaborate with pre-sales, marketing, product, and customer success teams to grow the enterprise pipeline.
  5. Manage forecasting and pipeline to ensure performance predictability and mitigate risks.
  6. Promote a customer-centric culture focused on solving tax compliance challenges.
  7. Represent Avalara at industry events and executive meetings.
  8. Attract, retain, and develop top sales talent, creating a pipeline for future leadership roles.

Qualifications

  1. Proven success leading and coaching new business sales teams, with a focus on outbound prospecting and acquiring new logos in mid-market.
  2. Experience selling third-party solutions that integrate with ERPs, especially Oracle.
  3. Deep understanding of ERP ecosystems.
  4. Experience in tax compliance or determination technology is a plus.
  5. 10+ years in SaaS sales, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  6. Track record of closing complex enterprise deals involving multiple stakeholders.
  7. Strong performance management skills.
  8. Ability to influence C-level executives and key stakeholders.
  9. Strategic planning with hands-on execution skills.
  10. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
