What you’ll be doing

as an Environment and Sustainability Assurance Specialist
  • Promoting the continuous improvement of the environmental/sustainability performance of all projects.
  • Being familiar with and effectively communicating the requirements of current applicable environmental legislation and best practices.
  • Represent the Environmental team as the lead for multiple projects. This will include attending site visits and meetings with the project team, reviewing deliverables, and conducting audits when a project reaches the construction phase.
  • Thinking innovatively and working with the Project Engineering team to identify areas where processes can be improved.
  • Aiding all project personnel to enable them to manage their carbon and sustainability duties and responsibilities.
  • Assisting the Environmental team in various internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums.
  • Raising awareness and understanding of carbon and sustainability targets throughout Capital Delivery.
  • Based in Hybrid, Clearwater Court - Reading, you will be required to be on-site and in the office as part of your role for 2-3 days a week.

    36 hours a week, Monday to Friday, offering a salary of between £42,000 and £48,000 per annum.

    This role does require a driver's licence and access to a car.

    The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are:

  • Be educated to a degree or equivalent in environmental/sustainability or something similar.
  • To have an interest in project delivery and a passion for protecting and enhancing the environment.
  • Take a proactive approach and be able to adapt to changing scenarios to solve problems and maintain Thames Water standards.
  • This role does require a driver's licence and access to a car.
  • Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring: 

  • Previous experience in the Utility industry is preferable.
  • Have a proactive approach and an eagerness for learning.
