Role purpose
As Head of Business Development, you will lead and coach a team of Business Development Managers to exceed revenue and sales targets while personally driving high-value opportunities. You will shape and deliver a cohesive commercial strategy, build referral networks, and embed a sales-forward culture across the business. Reporting to the Product Director (ExCo), you will collaborate with the Head of Global Marketing and consultancy leaders to drive growth and client outcomes.

Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and inspire a team of Business Development Managers to drive performance and continuous improvement
- Own and deliver against individual sales and revenue targets
- Collaborate with the Product Director to optimise scalable sales processes
- Build, manage and convert a robust pipeline using a structured, insight-led approach
- Work with the Head of Global Marketing on lead generation strategies, campaigns, and pipeline development
- Develop high-trust relationships with key referral partners
- Identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across the company’s services
- Deliver compelling, solution-led proposals and board-level presentations
- Collaborate with Sector heads and consultants to understand client challenges and shape solutions
- Partner with internal client delivery leaders to align product and technology development with client needs
- Design and deliver internal sales training to promote a consultative sales method
- Participate in industry events to raise the company profile and generate opportunities
- Maintain accurate sales forecasting and CRM-driven reporting
- Promote a sales-forward culture and support international growth and go-to-market strategies
Person Specification
- Proven success in a B2B sales leadership role
- Experience in financial services, compliance, consulting, or professional services (investment management, private markets, hedge funds)
- Track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets
- Experience coaching and developing sales teams
- Strong pipeline development, forecasting, and CRM skills
- Skilled at delivering high-impact proposals and presentations
- Experience building strategic partnerships and referral networks
- Collaboration with marketing to run go-to-market campaigns
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders including C-suite and boards
- Ability to design and deliver internal sales training
- Knowledge of FCA regulations or the compliance consulting landscape
- Effective communicator with strong influencing and presentation skills
- Excellent stakeholder management including senior clients and partners
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and hands-on problem solver
