Overview

Mace Industries Limited is a leading manufacturer of innovative portable conveyors and lifting solutions, supplying the UK and international markets. We are looking for a General Sales Manager (GSM) to lead our sales efforts across multiple divisions, including UK Sales, Export, GEDA, and Laser & Fabrication. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing company where you will play a key role in driving sales and expanding our market reach.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement sales targets and growth strategies for all sales divisions.
  • Sales forecasting: Create sales forecasts in collaboration with each team and communicate them to production in a timely manner.
  • Performance monitoring: Monitor and evaluate monthly sales performance across all divisions.
  • Reporting: Present sales reports, performance updates, and strategic plans to the board.
  • Trade Shows & Marketing Coordination: Identify, plan, and oversee trade shows and exhibitions, ensuring strong brand presence and lead generation.
  • Marketing collaboration: Liaise with internal and external marketing teams to develop and execute promotional campaigns.
  • Team Management & Development: Conduct regular appraisals and performance reviews with the sales team.
  • People decisions: Submit pay reviews and recommendations to the board for approval.
  • HR & staffing: Oversee HR and staffing matters, including recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Resource planning: Manage holiday requests and ensure adequate cover within the team.
  • Tools & benefits: Request necessary benefits and tools (e.g., phone, laptop, vehicles).

What We’re Looking For / Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales management, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, or a related industry.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to set and achieve ambitious targets.
  • Leadership with a passion for mentoring and developing a sales team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in trade show planning and marketing collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel, including attending UK and international trade shows.
