This Position reports to:
Sales Manager
The role of the Sales Account Manager – Life Sciences is to develop and maintain relationships with clients within Ireland and the UK and support mainly Life Sciences business area of Energy Industries by the identification and capture of business opportunities. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to develop and deliver the Process Automation Energy Industries business in Ireland & UK in line with ABB’s global strategy.

Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.
- Work model: remote {#LI-remote} from either Ireland or the UK
Plan and drive the overall growth of ABB within Ireland by identifying new business opportunities for ABB, as well as fostering relationships with existing clients to meet (or exceed) the budget targets.
Deliver sustainable business development and customer satisfaction through involvement in all customer related matters and drive / escalate resolution of problems to the satisfaction of the customer.
Formulate a business strategy towards the customers with respect to overall ABB interests.
Influence and drive decisions on the type of activities required to support the client base, considering the clients’ interest in all decisions and provide technical sales support to other ABB entities.
Prepare and manage tenders from enquiry to submittal & apply the overall commercial Terms & Conditions on behalf of ABB with support from Legal functions.
Liaise with the ABB centres for excellence to ensure delivery of the optimum solution for each opportunity.
Build and develop client relationships to increase ABB’s market share in line with our growth aspirations.
Establish relationships with key customers maximising ABB’s potential with each account
Develop and implement the ABB strategy towards the client base (captured in the Sales Plan), through understanding of the customer, its business, its strategy and their industry including, and translating this into an actionable plan on behalf of the business.
Obtain a thorough understanding of the customers’ requirements and market ABB offerings accordingly. Keep customers informed of new technology & developments.
Drive improvements in relationships at all levels between ABB and the client.
Identify gaps in the portfolio and participate in developing / selling ABB products into those gaps
Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures, with support from the health and safety team.
Qualifications for the Role
Bachelor's degree required in any discipline. Electrical/Software/Automation Engineering degree beneficial.
Two or more years post-graduate experience working in a Sales environment with proven track record.
Understanding process industries and able to demonstrate knowledge of the following areas: PLC, SCADA and DCS solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with a positive and flexible attitude.
Ability to work well within a team environment and on own initiative.
Strong presentation & negotiation skills and experience in managing customers’ demands & expectations
Experience of managing commercial and contractual risk
Strong organizational skills and technical knowledge
Flexible and proactive.
Full driver’s license.
Ability to travel 40-50% through Ireland & UK.
