Technical Sales Manager – South England and Western Europe

Our client is the UK’s largest supplier of speciality salad, herb and vegetable seeds. Powered by innovation, their strong R&D infrastructure includes advanced glasshouses and state-of-the-art labs.

Due to continued success, they are now on the search for a strategic and field-driven Technical Sales representative to accelerate sales across the South of England and into Western Europe. This role dedicates at east 70% of time to customer-facing activities, while collaborating with R&D, strategic planning and launching products in the market place.

Field & Grower Engagement

  • Conduct regular in-field visits, customer meetings, and sales calls.
  • Present tailored seed solutions highlighting agronomical benefits like enhanced yield, disease resistance, product quality under different growing conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, and key regional stakeholders.
  • Manage and grow key accounts and partnerships, offering strategic support.
  • Sales Strategy & Marketing

  • Own and deliver on territory sales targets, revenue forecasts, and margin goals, contributing to company growth.
  • Develop and implement sales action plans, including pipeline forecasting and strategic follow-up.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform competitive positioning and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead New Product Introductions (NPIs): coordinate campaign rollouts, manage promotional messaging, and synchronize across R&D and marketing.
  • Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3-7 years in technical sales within vegetable seed or horticultural industries, including trial management and product launches.
  • Strong agronomic background, crop knowledge, and familiarity with trial processes.
  • Commercial Skills: Proven ability to forecast, set targets, and drive sales growth.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented; excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of one or more Western European languages (e.g., French, German, Dutch) is a significant advantage.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel across the UK and Europe; home-based with strong field presence.
