Head of Sales
New Today
In a world of immense uncertainty, digiLab is a pioneering AI company that empowers governments and organisations in safety-critical or highly regulated industries to solve critical, complex, and high-stakes challenges using machine learning and uncertainty quantification.
From forging a path to clean energy to life-saving medical diagnostics and beyond, making critical decisions with unwavering confidence is difficult, especially when data is complex, sparse, or incomplete. This is where digiLab's expertise shines through.
Our trustworthy and explainable AI platform, The Uncertainty Engine, supported by our team of machine learning specialists and data scientists, enables decision-makers to accelerate innovation, reduce the risk of failure, turn insight into action, and deliver greater value through more informed and confident decisions.
This full-time position (Monday to Thursday – we don't work Fridays), reporting to the COO, will lead digiLab's commercial activity. As Head of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving digiLab's revenue growth, developing and closing high-value opportunities, and forming strategic relationships with flagship clients. This is a key leadership position as we scale our impact across deep tech and industrial sectors.
What we're looking for:
To thrive in the changing and fast-paced nature of a tech start-up, you will need to be adaptable, able to pivot quickly and comfortable working in an evolving environment. Understanding the technology and products we offer is critical – you should be able to grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
We are looking for someone who is tactically astute, strategically minded, and comfortable leading both sales execution and long-term business planning.
What you will be doing with us:
As the Head of Sales at digiLab, you will be responsible for:
- Sales and Revenue Growth
- Achieve mutually agreed sales and revenue targets aligned with digiLab's business objectives
- Drive commercial opportunities from lead generation through to deal close
- Maximise both client value and digiLab revenue
- Sales Process Ownership
- Build and maintain a consistent, high-quality pipeline of short- and medium-term opportunities
- Manage the pipeline via our CRM system; track progress and take timely action to accelerate deals
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide regular updates and insights to senior management
- Establish and improve scalable sales processes, supported by data and analytics
- Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders at target and existing clients
- Work closely with the CEO, COO, Head of Business Development, and Technical Sales to coordinate outreach and client engagements
- Deliver long-term account management to flagship clients; grow internal stakeholder communities and identify new opportunities
- Commercial Strategy and Leadership
- Lead prioritisation of internal resources to deliver on commercial goals
- Recruit, train and manage members of the commercial team
- Collaborate with internal teams – particularly Technical Sales, Business Development and Marketing – to align with overall commercial objectives
- Relay client requirements and pain points to product and R&D teams to help shape offerings
- Sector Presence and Thought Leadership
- Represent digiLab at business events and conferences
- Develop external visibility by contributing to presentations, articles, media and PR
- Contribute to strategic planning, including business plans and resourcing, alongside the senior leadership team
What Skills we are looking for:
- Experience in selling technical software solutions to large industrial enterprises, including software licences, services and collaborative projects
- A strong understanding of software buying processes in complex or engineering-led organisations
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders from technical users to executives
- A technical education in engineering, science or mathematics
- A strong motivation to form strategic relationships and close high-value commercial deals
- A goal-oriented mindset, while remaining adaptable and flexible in approach
- A desire to contribute to the growth and ambitions of a deep tech start-up, and to help scale a small, high-impact team
In addition, some ‘nice to haves' are:
- Computationally competent, with experience performing data analysis (Python experience and modelling capabilities, though not essential, would be an asset)
- A Master's in a STEM degree.
Location:
This role can be office-based in our Oxford office or Hybrid from London
