The Role
An ambitious and well-funded UK-based Charge Point Operator is seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Manager to play a pivotal role in the growth and rollout of its national EV charging network. With a mission to deliver charging infrastructure in underserved areas, the business is backed by a major international infrastructure investor and operates at speed and scale.
This is a commercially significant role responsible for identifying, negotiating, and onboarding strategic portfolios of land suitable for EV charger deployment. Working cross-functionally with legal, commercial, and technical teams, the Land Acquisition Manager will lead negotiations with portfolio landlords and ensure a smooth journey from site identification through to activation.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential portfolios for EV charging site development.
- Lead negotiations with portfolio landlords to secure strategic multi-site lease agreements.
- Conduct initial site surveys considering planning regulations, environmental impact, and local traffic.
- Deliver compelling virtual and in-person pitches to landlords and business owners.
- Tailor and present commercial proposals to prospective clients.
- Manage early-stage negotiations and the onboarding process.
- Agree on the Heads of Terms and coordinate with internal legal teams.
- Research land titles for restrictions, charges, and planning considerations.
- Prepare supporting legal and CAPEX documentation alongside admin support.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with landowners and partners.
- Guide prospects through the sales funnel with clear, timely communication.
- Keep CRM systems up to date (Zoho CRM preferred).
- Report key insights and progress to senior management and operations teams.
- Represent the business at industry events and networking opportunities.
- Stay up to date on trends in land use, EV infrastructure, policy, and competitors.
- Consistently deliver against acquisition KPIs and commercial targets.
- Act as a brand ambassador with strong industry and product knowledge.
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years' experience in land acquisition, commercial property, or EV infrastructure (CPO experience preferred).
- Proven success in securing multi-site or portfolio agreements (e.g., 10–90 sites under a single counterparty).
- Skilled in stakeholder management, from site-level contacts to executive leadership.
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of UK planning, legal, and environmental considerations around land use is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel).
- Familiarity with CRM systems; Zoho CRM experience is a plus.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits and events.
