Software Development Manager, Amazon - Ads Sales Tech

Ads SE&I is responsible for designing and developing applications that enable our advertisers to better leverage and benefit from Ads products.

In this role, you will create the vision for your team, develop your team, make important time investments in hiring, and define the technological roadmap by partnering with Principal Engineers and Product Managers.

This position requires a technical background in operating systems, software development, and systems development, with skills in detailed planning, operational excellence, operational management, and effective communication tailored to different audiences within the company.

Key job responsibilities

• Manage and develop teams that engineer key Ads technologies, including hiring, retention, performance management, mentoring, and capability/skill development.
• Evaluate complex business and technical requirements, communicating risks and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Create a vision for your team, focusing on timely delivery, driving operational activities, and managing on-call rotations.
• Influence other teams and leaders outside your organization, collaborate with Principal Engineers, and coordinate with global teams working in the same space.

Basic qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 5+ years of engineering team management experience
• Experience planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer software experiences
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs and projects in an Agile environment

Preferred qualifications

• Experience designing and developing large-scale, high-traffic applications
• Strong communication skills with users, technical teams, and leadership
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and managing software engineers to enhance their skills and effectiveness
