Job Title: Technical Sales / Business Development Manager – Aerospace & Defence

Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm


VHR is working with a leading precision engineering company in Oxfordshire that supplies high-performance machined components to the Motorsport, Formula 1, and high-end automotive industries. As part of its growth strategy, the business is now expanding into the aerospace and defence markets.


We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales / Business Development Manager to drive this transition. This is a senior role with responsibility for winning new contracts, building relationships, and shaping the company’s future growth in aerospace and defence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business with aerospace and defence clients (OEMs, Tier 1 & Tier 2).
  • Lead the sales cycle: identify opportunities, prepare RFQs/tenders, negotiate, and close.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with procurement and engineering teams.
  • Ensure proposals align with technical and production capabilities.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to deliver client requirements.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and client meetings.
  • Report on pipeline, performance, and revenue generation.


Requirements:

  • Proven success in technical sales or business development in precision engineering.
  • Experience securing contracts within aerospace and/or defence sectors.
  • Strong industry contacts and knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Commercial awareness of margins, pricing, and bid strategies.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
