We’re looking for an experienced and driven Head of Sales to join a dynamic and rapidly growing travel organisation based in the Chester area.

This is a key leadership position within the Sales Management team, working alongside other Heads of Sales to drive performance and deliver results, during an exciting phase of growth for the business.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will be challenging, varied and fast paced, involving call monitoring, sales coaching, performance feedback, driving increased conversions, revenue, profit, and reviews for both travel brands, managing multiple channels/sources of enquiries and providing clear communication to the team and fellow Managers at all times.

Previous experience in a similar managerial role within the travel sector is essential. In return, our client can offer a competitive salary up to £55k, plus bonus structure and excellent benefits. Please note – this is a fully office-based role 5 days out of 7, on a rota basis.

Role of Head of Sales

  • Lead, support, and manage a team of Sales Managers, ensuring they are equipped to drive performance across their teams.
  • Collaborate with other Heads of Sales to ensure the smooth and successful day-to-day operation of the sales department.
  • Conduct daily live call monitoring and provide timely, constructive feedback to support performance improvement.
  • Track and analyse sales patterns, performance levels, and conversion rates, taking proactive action to address any areas requiring development.
  • Ensure that all sales processes and compliance standards are consistently followed by agents across departments and brands.
  • Maximise every opportunity to convert leads and increase sales revenue through effective oversight and coaching.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior management, highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Carry out people management responsibilities, including performance appraisals, one-to-ones, and formal HR processes such as grievances and disciplinaries.
  • Support the training, coaching, and professional development of sales teams to enhance skills and improve results.
  • Represent the department by attending the weekly Trade meeting and senior management meetings as required.

Skills required for the role

  • Experience of working in a fast paced, long haul travel call centre or office environment at managerial level.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership with ability to coach, mentor and motivate sales team to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Adept at analysing sales metrics and market trends to identify opportunities and adjust strategies.
  • Proficient in CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite and other sales productivity tools to track performance and improve efficiency.
  • Skilled in problem solving, prioritising tasks and adapting quickly to changing market conditions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
