We are recruiting a fixed‑term role, up to 2 years, for somebody with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
• Develop strategy and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
• Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
• Respond to incidents and make yourself available to provide business continuity support during an incident.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, actively encouraging others to consider diversity issues.
• Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience of regulating relevant processes, including control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
• Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.

The length of contract is up to 2 years. Interviews will be held in person in Birmingham by the end of November. Some travel may be required.
