About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Sponsorship Sales Manager to join us at our Fleet Street office in London or Wilmslow office, near Manchester.
Professional Development Group is a leading organiser of in-person and virtual conferences, events, and training courses, dedicated to fostering innovation, networking, and professional development across the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
We host over 200 public sector events annually, supporting over 8,000 customers in staying updated, acquiring new skills, and forging valuable connections. Our expanding business comprises three distinct brands tailored to our diverse public and private sector clientele:
- Government Events: Specialising in information-driven conferences and events, we keep our customers abreast of Government policy and best practices.
- MyPD: As part of the Professional Development Group and an Approved CMI Centre, MyPD offers executive education courses to elevate skills and mindset for career advancement.
- GovPD: Offering a range of online, in-person, and in-house training courses, GovPD focuses on career development and fostering organisational change.
The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sponsorship Sales Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sponsorship sales across a portfolio of in-person and virtual conferences and events. The role requires a proactive and results-driven individual with a proven track record in sponsorship sales, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sponsorship sales strategy to achieve revenue targets for in-person and virtual conferences and events.
- Identify and research potential sponsors, understanding their business needs and objectives to tailor sponsorship packages that deliver value and meet their marketing goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential sponsors, serving as their primary point of contact throughout the sponsorship lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with the events, marketing, and content teams to create compelling sponsorship proposals and packages that align with the themes and objectives of each conference or event.
- Negotiate sponsorship agreements and contracts, ensuring terms are mutually beneficial and adhering to company policies and guidelines.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, reports, and updates to senior management, highlighting progress towards targets, opportunities, and challenges.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote our portfolio and identify new business opportunities.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in sponsorship sales, preferably within the events or conference industry.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Strong understanding of the sponsorship landscape and industry trends.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of clients at all levels.
- Efficient with LinkedIn, Sales Navigator & Socials to build networks and relationships.
- Confident, determined and willing to work hard to meet and exceed targets.
What we offer:
We offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of in-person and virtual conferences and events. This is all within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Hybrid – three days in the office, and two days working from home.
- Flexi hours.
- Uncapped commission.
- 23 days annual leave, plus 0.5 days for your birthday, and bank holidays.
- Annual leave increasing with length of service, capped at 26 days. Can also buy up to four days annual leave a year.

- Events for the building, most commonly St Paddy’s Day, Halloween, and Christmas, plus summer parties.
